Spring Potting Ideas
I had picked up some spring bulbs and some great planting pots and I decided that Sunday was the day to get them together. Usually, I would head out to the back yard and get some small stones to fill the bottom of the pots but I recently received a shipment of plants packed in those pesky Styrofoam peanuts.
Someone once told me that these made a great replacement for the stones and will keep the roots from getting water logged in the bottom
of the pots. So, being a fan of using these in a handy way rather than putting them in a landfill… I wanted to pass this tip on to you! Can’t wait for the bulbs to come up… Dahlias, Spider Lilies, and Star Flowers.
These bulbs will not weather the winters in New England so I will need to bring these pots indoors for storage… I think this is easier than remembering to dig them up!

This is such a great use of those blasted things! You are so much more ambitious than I when it comes to the bulbs, I do remember my Nana pulling some up in the fall? I have never done that?? Interesting that it might explain why some things did not survive? lol
I guess that’s why they make directions????? DOH!
